I was living in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a finance man when I got a letter from my uncle who had been married to a Sami woman and had spent much time in Sapmi. It was not the context of the letter that made me think of another world, it was rather the memories of my uncle and the way he was writing. He used an old typewriter and sent me a photo where he was dancing with a woman. My uncle lived alone and had given me the impression that he was a shaman.
At the time I received this initiation letter I was travelling around the world through my work and experienced many new cultures. Previously I had been living the American dream with everything that includes.
There used to be many shamans in Michigan and I suddenly got the feeling that I was visited by the spirits of these shamans. One evening when I was going to sleep, I for some strange reason took all my clothes of and was laying there naked in my bed when I felt my soul leaving my body. It was storming weather with lightning and thunder and I felt the ancient shamans speaking to me. They told me to give my soul away. I was laying there feeling and thinking the strangest things.
The holy ground upon which I was sleeping was taking over my life.
After this experience I started to think and act differently. I made drastic changes to my life.
I went into the saivo state of my life. I went in and out of different souls experiencing things nobody but a shaman would understand. This saivo state lasted for many years and took me places I never thought was possible.
When I reflect on this period in my life which included soul transfers or soul retrievals I’m surprised I’m still alive. One does the strangest things and experiences the most unexpected things when the spirits are working on you in saivo.
I can write a whole book about the souls that talked to me and visited me. Right now I feel it is best to keep most of my experiences unwritten and keep them in the past. I landed from my saivo several years ago and am happy with my new life.
Now I take one day at a time and am currently writing on the Zone again after having been travelling physically and met a lot of new friends.
When you go into saivo please be careful and have a lot of shamans with you in order for things not to get out of hand.
I would like to conclude with a thank you to my uncle, who is now passed away, who brought me to shamanism and my experience with saivo.
It is strange what a single letter can do to your life.
Peace and strength be with you on your path.
